I found size to be the most limiting factor. We had to make a container smaller than 28cm by 28cm. We could have made our cardboard flaps much bigger and had our container fall much slower because of the increased resistance. This would have reduced impact at the floor and made it easier on our egg.
The most effective part of our design was the cardboard flaps. The flaps balanced the container and ensured that it landed on the right side. They also slowed the container down and lessened the impact.
The least effective part of our design was the sock wrapped around the toilet paper roll. It didn't really add anything to the container except mass, though it ensured that it all stayed together and held the egg more solidly in place.
To safely carry two eggs we would have to get a new toilet paper roll and cut two holes in the tissue with space between them. Everything else would be the same but just add another hole for the second egg.
